We continue to work on our space stations in science class. students will only be given until friday to complete them. in french, they have also been asked to read 1 or 2 chapters of their novel. by friday they need to record themselves reading a page on seesaw. finally, in dance, we have begun to learn the elements of dance and will begin to learn various styles of dance. merci! mme goold

We had another busy week in gr. 6! report cards were sent home today. i hope you have the chance to go over all the work sent home yesterday. please return the "parents comments" page with your comments for term 1. merci!
This week, we finished off our Health "smart" goal. Students have been keeping track of how well they've been progressing and making any necessary changes. I hope this was a useful activity and that goals were achieved!
In phys. ed., we are completing our unit on handball. next, we'll be starting badminton. today, we had the opportunity to go snowshoeing!
we completed our oral presentations on our olympic logos. please see the rubrics that were sent home. next, we'll start focusing on persuasive writing.

1-health- last week, students each came up with their own "smart" goal related to living a healthier life. we'll be keeping track of how they're progressing toward their goals for the next few weeks. Please ask your child what his/her goal is.
2-phys. ed.- we have started our handball unit. what a fun and exciting sport! see the picture below...
3-visual arts- students had to design an olympic logo for "ottawa 2022". this is due on monday. i'm looking forward to seeing the finished products tomorrow.
4- french- we will be preparing for oral presentations on our logos, giving reasons why we selected the symbols and what it represents. we will also be doing many olympic-related activities in all strands of french: listening, speaking, reading and writing. finally, i encourage your child to continue reading french at home (and/Or watching french videos) on a regular basis. this will increase his/her understanding.

JAN. 21ST: Leafs' practice & science test
We had a great time on friday at the maple leafs' hockey practice at the ctc. it was a beautiful day for a walk! we were very fortunate to watch the team in action as they prepared for their game against the sens on saturday night. the leafs won 4-3!

3- Field trip: today, your child is coming home with a permission form for our walking field trip to the CTC on Friday. We have been given special permission to watch a closed practice for the toronto maple leafs. we will depart the school at 1pm and return by 3pm. please ensure that the permission forms are returned by thursday.

Dec. 20th: Scientists in the School
We had a very busy monday afternoon learning about electricity. So many fun and exciting experimentS “en francais” with all the gr 6 immersion students.

One of the activities was a short oral explanation on "seesaw" of a picture from the story. last week, we played an oral game in groups. this week, students will be responding to questions in their writing journal. Finally, they will be practising for a drama skit using a scene from one of the chapters in the book. Plays will be on thursday of this week.

Sneak Peek of our Remembrance Day ceremony
Here are a few pictures of the "conflict tableaux" that the grade 6 students have been practising for and will be presenting during the ceremony next friday. they have also been creating "peaceful tableaux" as well. more details on the ceremony to follow!
